SenzView’s Journey in Reshaping Retail with Real-Time Customer Behavior Analysis

SenzView has emerged as a game-changer in the dynamic world of retail, from addressing critical challenges to reshaping the retail landscape.
Our journey began with a well-known clothing store in Sri Lanka facing a significant challenge in adapting to the demands of today’s dynamic economy. The manual tracking of customer behavior was proving to be error-prone, hindering the store’s ability to optimize operations and enhance revenue.
In response to these challenges, SenzView was born — a groundbreaking real-time customer behavior analysis tool by SenzMate. This AI application empowered the store to make informed, strategic decisions by detecting incoming customers, mapping retail sections, and understanding consumer behavior.
The journey from Proof of Concept (POC) to commercialization was filled with learnings and innovations. We customized machine learning models, implemented effective cooling solutions, and ensured seamless data transfer to a cloud platform for thorough analysis.
The idea stage brought its own set of challenges, including privacy concerns that led us to use existing CCTV cameras for detection purposes. The Jetson Nano and YOLO V4 tiny model played pivotal roles in optimizing our model’s efficiency on edge devices.
In the prototype phase, we fine-tuned our models by training them to detect objects using real surveillance footage, ensuring our solution was tailored to the unique environment and requirements of the clothing store.
The Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage allowed us to closely monitor SenzView’s performance at the first branch. Challenges surfaced, such as data loss and accuracy issues, but we persisted, implementing local data storage solutions and experimenting with masking techniques.
The real turning point came when we expanded SenzView to additional outlets of the clothing store, securing partnerships with multiple branches. This commercial success is a testament to the effectiveness and reliability of SenzView in addressing the unique challenges faced by retailers in monitoring customer behavior and analysis.
Results have been transformative — SenzView has empowered retail staff with the tools needed to make informed decisions, enhance operations, and significantly improve the overall customer experience.
